Enhance safety with the Savage A41 Air high performance helmet and ESAB's EPR-X1.1 PAPR system to mitigate the most common and serious welding side effects. The Savage A41 Air incorporates an updated digital user interface with an extended shade range from shade 8 to 13, covering all of the essential welding applications. The simple push button control panel makes it easy to select the exact shade, sensitivity and delay settings needed for the most challenging welding process. An external grind button locks the ADF to the passive shade 4 setting for quick grinding / finishing work without the need to remove the helmet. Pairing the helmet to ESAB's EPR-X1.1 PAPR system delivers TH3 level particulate protection, and the option to add A1B1E1 gas filtration with the available gas filter. The helmet's ventilation system drafts the air from the top of the headgear, providing a comfortable airflow during long welding hours.

Product Details

ESAB’s EPR-X.1 PAPR unit connects seamlessly with all current ESAB prepared-for-air welding helmets and provides advanced respiratory protection from harmful welding fume particulates.

This PAPR is designed for occasional use in full-time industrial applications. The EPR-X.1 offers a robust, compact housing with a powerful blower to ensure maximum life and performance. Check your battery status, fan settings and filter conditions briefly with quick-access status LED lights. Additionally, the PAPR provides audible and vibratory alerts to notify the user of low airflow (indicating a needed filter change) and low battery conditions.

The EPR-X1.1’s turbo unit is controlled with easily accessed push buttons allowing three airflow speed ranges of 170/190/220 l/minute. The HEPA-quality EN12941 TH-3P certified two-stage filter and spark arrestor is easily accessed through a removable front door.

How do I choose between the different helmets in the range?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

Compare the viewing area, the shade range, the number of arc sensors, the weight and balance, and whether it has features such as a grinding mode or a side view. Better optical quality helps with accuracy and reduces eye fatigue across a shift.

If you weld at low current or in awkward positions, look for good sensitivity and a wide range. Try the helmet on if possible, since fit matters as much as specification.

What does the optical class of an auto-darkening filter mean?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

Optical class describes how clear, even and distortion-free the view is through the filter, in the light and dark states. Better ratings give a sharper, more even view and less eye strain over long periods.

It is a worthwhile feature if you weld for many hours a day or do precision work. Check the rating in the specification.

Can I wear safety glasses and a hearing protector with these helmets?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

Prescription glasses or safety spectacles often fit under the helmet, but check the clearance and the face seal. Some helmets also accept a magnifying lens or a prescription insert.

Hearing protection that fits under the helmet shell exists, and grinding or air-arc work usually needs it. Make sure nothing breaks the face seal.

What do the airflow indicators and alarms tell me?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

The blower usually monitors airflow and warns you with lights, a buzzer or vibration if the flow falls too low or the battery is near empty. The causes are generally a blocked filter, a kinked hose or a flat battery.

Treat any alarm as a prompt to leave the work area and fix the cause. Never ignore a warning, since it means you may not be getting the protection you expect.
