The AWS Comet is a mechanised all-positional MIG welding system. Available in left-hand and right-hand configurations, the Comet runs on a precision-engineered band specific to the project and parent material. By utilising a solid sizing beam on the framework of the Comet, the orbital welding machine is fixed in position to allow the Comet to run on pipe from as small as 6” in diameter, up to a flat plate, and up to internal welding on larger diameter pipes by simply changing the sizing beam.
The operator can set up to 10 programmes in the AWS Comet. These parameter sets are stored on a computer using the Handset database tool. With the pioneering addition that sets the programme to change automatically, using this orbital system for welding root to cap has never been so easy.
